Spherion Mid Ohio, in partnership with The JM Smucker Company, is seeking a Transportation Planner to support their Supply Chain and Logistics teams in Orrville, Ohio.

The Planner will set appointments, schedule order delivery, manage logistics plans, and implement process enhancements while maintaining a focus on cost and service to the business. Key Responsibilities:

Proactively set load delivery and pick-up appointments; working with third party providers to adjust appointment as needed Generate reports, manipulate data, access multiple systems, and communicate with internal and external parties Reactively investigate and report out on specific order status requests Assist Transportation Manager by providing daily feedback on appointment command center and BOT automation mapping and exceptions Provide continuous improvement ideas and feedback on the appointment setting process Assess potential exceptions to on-time shipment delivery Create action plan to resolve common and complex exceptions Work with shippers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to execute transportation plans Proactively communicate resolutions to impacted parties Provide carrier performance feedback to internal and external stakeholders Meet or exceed Transportation budget goals through route guide compliance, strategic Spot Market use, higher cost/lower performing carrier replacement, and accessorial cost mitigation Ensure carrier coverage of all shipments from assigned sites Utilize transportation management system to provide optimal load solutions based on total cost-to-serve Communicate with shippers, carriers, and internal stakeholders as needed to ensure alignment to transportation plan Identify performance issues, develop carrier actions plans, and monitor results Document site-specific transportation requirements Maintain the transportation management system

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree is required 1-5 years of Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain experience 1-5 years of experience with scheduling order delivery, transportation planning, or logistics management Ability to organize information and prioritize tasks to meet internal expectations Ability to understand Order Management process Ability to understand system processing and EDI transactions Intermediate Excel skills – ability to manipulate data using standard formulas / functionality and in templates created by others Strong administrative skills and accuracy Ability to follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures Ability to learn and navigate within several computer systems Strong collaborator and communicator; ability and desire to be a team contributor Comfortable with professional face to face, phone, and email communication to both internal and external parties Problem solving skills Attention to detail and follow up skills

Education:
Bachelor's degree is required 

Compensation:
$25/hour - approximately $52,000 annually

Schedule and Location: 
Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm. Full time (40-45 hours/week).
This position offers a hybrid work schedule. You will have the opportunity to work a combination of days remotely and in the office at the Smucker Orrville campus (most likely 60% remote, 40% in the office).
