Transportation Manager 

 

As a Transportation Manager, you play a crucial role in collaborating with Product Supply to execute strategies that enable the achievement of shipping and reverse logistics targets at defined service levels. You are responsible for overseeing the transportation process to customers, including returns, dock capacity, and carrier selection, ensuring operations are conducted safely and compliantly to meet both customer and commercial needs. Your expertise in managing transportation costs, monitoring KPIs, metrics, and expenses ensures adherence to budgets and targets. You develop distribution tactics and contingency plans to ensure the success of the delivery season, influence delivery acceptance and scheduling, and monitor carrier scorecards for continuous improvement. Additionally, you coordinate training related to transportation processes, including third-party involvement, and respond promptly to customer feedback and quality of service cases, engaging appropriate parties to ensure resolution. Your proactive approach in recommending process improvements supports organizational strategy, initiatives, and goals. You maintain SLAs for your area of responsibility, define and track key performance indicators and metrics relative to SLAs, and manage carrier capacity/fleet within assigned brand(s). You partner with procurement to adjust carrier capacity and assist with seed carrier recruitment. Ensuring transportation processes are standardized, documented, and compliant with internal guidelines is a key aspect of your role.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WHO YOU ARE:

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field;Minimum 6 years’ experience in supply chain with heavy transportation experience preferred;Key competencies: customer focus, results orientation, collaboration, agility, conflict management, decision making, strong communication;Knowledge of IT systems and tools, e.g. TMS (JDA preferred), SAP, WMS, Salesforce;Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;Working knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (DOT hours of service, hazardous materials);Ability to travel away from St. Louis 10% of the time.

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $79,512.00 - $119,268.00 Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
