JOB SUMMARY\n
Under the direction of the Community Services Assistant Director, the Transportation Manager is responsible for day-to-day oversight of transit service activities; operations oversight; grant management; compliance with FTA and Texas Department of Transportation requirements; marketing and customer service. The Transportation Manager also serves as the DBE Program Manager and Title VI Manager. Responsible for overseeing the City's Transit system and other transportation related projects. \n
QUALIFICATIONS\n
Education and Experience:\n
Any combination equivalent to bachelor's degree in public or business administration, urban planning, or related field. Experience may substitute for college degree. A minimum of five years of experience in transportation administration, planning, marketing, and other areas which include responsibility for administrative and budgetary analysis. Two years of experience with a municipal, state, and\/or federal agency in transit planning and\/or management, and\/or processing documents (paper or electronic) to meet FHWA, FAA, FRA, and\/or FTA requirements. \n
Special Requirements:\n
Possession of a valid class \"C\" Texas driver's license.\n
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nPrinciples of management, supervision, training, and employee development.\nPrinciples and practices related to fleet management and transit operations.\nFederal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the operations of transit systems including Federal Transit funding programs.\nTechniques of planning, organizing, and coordinating transportation activities.\nBudget preparation and control.\nContract administration.\nData collection and summary reporting; statistics and graphics presentations.\nEffective oral and written communication.\nPrinciples and practices of administration, supervision, and training.\nInterpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.\nPlan, organize and direct the operation and the planning for reliable public transit services.\nSupervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.\nCollaborate effectively with other departments and agencies.\nCommunicate effectively both orally and in writing.\n\n
