Your opportunity
Dillon’s Transportation Infrastructure Design group is looking for a Transportation Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation projects for provincial (MTO) and Ontario municipalities including environmental assessments, preliminary and detailed design of highway infrastructure, interchanges and intersections. In this position you will play a critical role on our transportation project team as we continue to grow.
At Dillon, we operate as one team nationally, however, this position will be based out of our London or Kingston office.
What your day will look like
Design
Lead the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs for freeways, urban and rural multilane and two-lane facilities, interchanges, and intersectionsLead the preparation of technical reports, contract documentation, including contract drawings, construction specifications, tender quantity and cost estimates, and working day estimatesInteract with clients, approval agencies, utility companies, contractors and other stakeholders, as requiredProvide support and oversight of junior staff working on transportation projectsInteract regularly with project team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and various support staffContinuous development of technical expertise on a variety of transportation engineering projects, including transportation master plans, environmental assessments, preliminary design, detailed design and construction phase servicesContribute to municipal council and agency presentationsBusiness Development
Prepare estimates and project proposalsContribute to the leadership and growth of the Transportation groupContribute to the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunitiesTravel to client locations and/or other Dillon offices for the purposes of executing your responsibilities, internal client relationship development, project research and project deliveryLearning & Development
Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentContribute to the career development of junior and intermediate staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees QualificationsWhat you will need to succeed
A degree in civil engineeringLicensed to practice as a professional engineer in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six monthsA minimum of 5 years' professional experience, preferably in the consulting industryProven leadership and business development capabilities Experience Proven experience in environmental assessment, preliminary and detailed design of municipal and provincial transportation facilities. Experience with alternative project delivery models would be an assetDemonstrated abilities in leadership of multidisciplinary projects and teamsIn-depth understanding of business issues associated with consulting engineering and planningProven skills in public and agency consultationExperience in the geometric design of highways, municipal roads and intersectionsStrong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads would be an assetExceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
