Transportation Compliance Specialist - Logistics (Springdale, AR Terminal Office)

Job Details:

SUMMARY: This position will work with the EHS Corporate Director of Transportation Safety Fleet Transportation Safety Resource Managers and Complex Team Members to facilitate compliance with federal state and local regulations and company requirements involving the operation of commercial motor vehicles.

The position will act as DER for DOT drug and alcohol compliance and oversee the fleet hours of service department. This position will also ensure compliance with federal drug and alcohol testing as required by the DOT; make required decisions in the testing and evaluation process; support and monitor DOT testing at all locations; recommend and implement other DOT compliance activities and processes.

Responsibilities include:

Review hours of service records for accuracy.

Monitor and maintain records for required safety training for fleet drivers.

Assist with DOT compliance audits.

Assist with new manager training on responsibilities for fleet safety.

Develop and distribute systems reports to help location managers identify opportunities for safety improvement.

Promote driver safety through weekly and monthly messaging.

Monitor and provide updates on FMCSA regulatory changes.

Notify locations of state and federal emergency declarations.

Assist Casualty Claims, as needed, with accident investigation, document retention, and any other items that may be needed.

Ensure roadside inspections are properly documented and returned to the appropriate state within the required time frame.

Ensure that all alcohol and controlled substance testing conducted under DOT regulations comply with the procedures set forth in part 40 of the DOT regulations, maintain all required records, take immediate actions to remove team members from safety-sensitive duties in the case of a confirmed positive DOT regulated drug or alcohol test, and make required decisions in the testing and evaluation process.

Other duties include: notify drivers of the results of controlled substance testing conducted under DOT regulations; compiles and maintain testing results and statistics required for mandated compliance at company state and federal levels; gather and maintain information to ensure compliance with acute and critical regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Hazardous Material Regulations; oversee and manage the DOT hours of service audit department for fleet CMV drivers; other duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: 3 plus years’ experience working in safety with a focus on policies procedures and dealing with the Department of Transportation compliance at local state and federal levels or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills including complex multi-page spreadsheets for documentation of results statistics and reporting requirements.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills.

Supervisory: Responsible for supervising management support positions.

Travel: 1-5 trips a year.
