Job Description:
Transport Operations Manager
We’re looking for a Transport Operations Manager who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with an in-depth understanding of the Transport operations in Mexico.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a strong plus.
Proven experience in a transport or logistics management role, preferably within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or food manufacturing industry. (Over 3 years to 6 years)
Strong knowledge of the Mexican transport market, including carriers, regulations, and best practices.
Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS) and Excel.
Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes
Excellent Verbal Communication
Ability to builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
What will be your key responsibilities?
Operational Management:
Oversee daily transport planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely and complete deliveries.
Manage and negotiate with 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) providers and carriers to secure optimal rates and service levels.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, transport cost per unit, fleet utilization, and perfect order rate.
Proactively identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, including traffic restrictions, road incidents, and other disruptions.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of transport analysts.
Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability within the team.
Manage personnel, including performance reviews, training, and succession planning.
Budget and Cost Control:
Develop and manage the transport budget, focusing on cost optimization and savings initiatives.
Analyze transport spend and implement strategies to reduce costs without compromising service quality.
Track and report on transport-related financial metrics.
Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with other departments (Supply Chain: CSR, Planning, Warehousing, and other like MGS, Security, etc.) to align transport strategies with business goals.
Lead projects focused on process optimization, network design, and technology adoption (e.g., TMS, route optimization software).
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, challenging the status quo and implementing best practices.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Ensure all transport operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Manage risks related to cargo security and implement measures to prevent theft and damage.
Oversee the management of refrigerated transport to maintain product integrity and food safety standards.
