**Position Description**
The Transport Associate is an **RN or RRT** that applies their intensive care knowledge, skills, and experience as part of a mobile ICU service at SickKids with the ACTS (Acute Care Transport Service) Team. The ACTS Transport Associate RN or RRT cares for critically ill neonates and children from 0-18 years. Working with and under the direction of a Transport Clinician RN or RRT and/or Transport Physician, you will respond by land or air ambulance to other hospitals within Ontario and across Canada to stabilize and ensure safe transport of patients needing emergent or intensive care. This may include international travel and everything from attending high-risk deliveries to paediatric patients referred for specialized quaternary care.
**Here's What You'll Get To Do:**
You will participate in extensive onboard training related to intensive care and Transport Medicine. The training program will focus on interprofessional cross training between RNs and RRTs. You will also get training and experience caring for intensive care patients while out of hospital in both land and air environments. In addition, you will:
+ Provide family centred-patient care within the scope of transport practice
+ Practice in a fast paced dynamic environment while progressively developing expertise in transport medicine
+ Work collaboratively with the Transport Clinician to prioritize and provide patient care in acute and critical situations.
+ Contribute to and support internal and outreach education initiatives
+ Foster and strengthen your leadership competencies within the field of transport medicine
+ Contribute to and support research utilization, promotion and dissemination of new knowledge
**Here's What You Will Need:**
+ Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or with the College of Respiratory Therapy of Ontario as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related degree or evidence of working towards a related university degree is preferred
+ A minimum of 3 years' experience in a tertiary neonatal intensive care environment, paediatric intensive care, and/or paediatric emergency department is preferred.
+ Ability to complete the ACTS Transport Team Transport Associate Program in a reasonable and predetermined time frame
+ Completion of NRP and PALS preferred
+ A valid passport required for international travel
+ A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
**Employment Type: 1 Year Contract** , with the option of moving to Full-Time upon successful completion of the program.
