A Line Technician will assist a higher-level technician and sometime safely lead a lower-level technician in activities associated with line construction and maintenance activities. Incumbents are expected to develop complex technical and leadership skills and the ability to work independently and lead small activities with low to moderate levels of complexity.

Responsibilities

Demonstrated a complete understanding of company safety rules and work practicesDemonstrate a complete understanding of Human Performance practices Demonstrate the ability to safely lead small jobs and work independent of direct leadership Can organize construction and maintenance work and create over all implementation/maintenance plansAdvanced understanding of reading prints and determine how to isolate protection circuits without jeopardizing critical equipmentDemonstrate the ability to methodically/logically organize substation work activities  Demonstrate the ability to operate bucket, digger derrick truck other areal devices Ability to respond to minor call outsUnderstands limitations, never assumes, and will STOP to seek helpCan lead small and low risk maintenance or construction projects Basic understanding of power factor, winding resistance, circuit breaker timing, and leakage reactance testing and interpret  resultsCan assist with the installation of portable/mobile substations/transformers/switches or other temporary equipmentAbility to perform infrared scanning substation equipment  Clear understanding of regulatory compliance and the importance for accurate data and timely completion of assigned workBasic understanding of line equipment isolation and clearances and grounding practicesDemonstrates the ability to complete the requirements for Switching and Tagging on both the Transmission and Distribution systemsDemonstrates the ability to complete maintenance/construction activities on all line equipment Demonstrates advance verbal and written communications skillsAbility to sit for 2-3 hours; may be driving a truck or sitting on a transmission class equipmentAbility to move frequently to unload equipment and to install/maintain/repair equipmentAbility to frequently climb or use authorized equipment to reach various heights and breadthsAbility to frequently and repetitively bend/stoop/squatAbility to distinguish colors

Basic/Required Qualifications

Line Tech Learner

High School Diploma/GED

Line Tech I

High School Diploma/GEDMinimum 3 years required related work experience

The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight-rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.This position has a residency requirement. You must reside within 45 minutes of the assigned operations site. In order to meet with aforementioned position requirement, you will be required to relocate from your current residence within 12 months of your start date. Relocation will be entirely at your own expense.
