This position will design and deliver technical training for transmission line worker apprenticeships. Oversees the design, development, implementation and delivery of high impact, cost effective technical education to provide employees with knowledge and skills required for current job responsibilities and advancement opportunities. Incorporate human performance concepts, safety, policies, procedures and common work practices into learning and training. Coordinate and conduct learning and training in collaboration with business unit management and corporate groups to meet organizational goals.
What you’ll do:
Directs the development, communication and implementation of a learning strategy by conducting learning/training needs assessments. Forecast, plan and analyze for learning and training needs based on demographics and staffing changes. Consult with management and employees on learning and training priorities.Oversees the scheduling and coordination of technical training. Communicate training calendar, courses and learning opportunities to management teams and employees.Lead the teaching, instructing, facilitation and evaluation of learning and training activities including rules, knowledge, information, job skills, job/task demonstrations, and proctoring tests, assessments and evaluations.Coordinates of the design and development of technical curriculums, courses and training resources including instructor-led and online course content, presentations, manuals, handouts, job aids, games, job task analysis documents, job performance measures, hands-on demonstrations and assessments/tests. Incorporate human performance concepts, safety, AEP/industry best practices and lessons learned into training.Guides the research and selection of the appropriate training resources and tools. Negotiate and coordinate with vendors and OEMs as required.Maintain collaborative working relationships with management team, employees, internal and external partners and vendors to develop and deliver training.Oversees the administration and proper maintenance of electronic and physical training records/qualifications, reports, budgets, measurements and cost/value analyses for learning and training programs and activities. Use the AEP learning management system to index courses and to record training, certifications and seminars in accordance with AEP policies and procedures and government/state regulations.Facilitate training projects, committees and meetings as assigned.What we’re looking for:

Education:
High School graduate/GED.Experience:
Twelve (12) years' technical work experience in related area OR Six (6) years' experience as a Training Specialist Senior.Required License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license.Technical Training Specialist Senior PG 7($123,090-125,034)
Education:
High School graduate/GED.Experience:
Nine (9) years' technical work experience in related area OR Four (4) years' as a Training Specialist.Required License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license.Technical Training Staff PG 9($146,730-$169,304)
Education:
High School graduate/GED.Experience:
12 years of related work experience with 5 years of leadership or training experience preferred.Licenses/Certifications:
CDL may be required for some locations/positions.In addition:
These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.
Preferred Transmission Line experience and Class A CDLPhysical demand level is SedentaryAssociate degree in Power Plant Technology or related field preferred for Generation.Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Technology or related field preferred for Transmission.Excellent oral, written and presentation skills required.Thorough knowledge of assigned area's technical work processes, procedures and safety standards.Strong computer skills including Microsoft office suite software.Maintain a high level of knowledge of federal, state and AEP safety, health and environmental training requirements.Travel required.Exempt (unpaid) overtime required.
