In this pivotal role, you’ll spearhead the development and operation of a cutting-edge Transmission Operations Center (TOC) in the ERCOT region. You’ll oversee everything from facility construction to team leadership, ensuring seamless, secure, and compliant grid operations—including a 300 MW HVDC interconnection with Mexico’s Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE).

What You’ll Do
Project Leadership
Lead the siting, design, and commissioning of new primary and backup TOC facilities.
Oversee implementation of advanced control systems and operational technologies.
Team Building & Development
Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing team of system operators, engineers, and outage coordinators.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Mentor teams in system restoration, coordination, and emergency response.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with NERC, TRE, and ERCOT standards.
Collaborate with the Compliance team to develop robust operational procedures.
Lead or support audit readiness and regulatory engagements.
Grid Operations
Manage real-time system operations, outage planning, and emergency response.
Monitor asset performance and implement data-driven improvements.
Optimize reliability and cost-efficiency across the transmission network.
Strategic Innovation
Drive long-term strategies to enhance grid performance and resilience.
Integrate emerging technologies to modernize operations and improve asset utilization.
Budget & Stakeholder Management
Develop and manage operational and capital budgets.
Engage with internal teams, ERCOT, regulators, and industry peers to align on goals and initiatives.
What You Bring
Deep expertise in high-voltage transmission systems and ERCOT grid protocols.
Proven leadership in transmission operations, with a track record of building and guiding high-performing teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Familiarity with industry regulations and operational best practices.
A mindset of extreme ownership and cross-functional collaboration.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
15+ years of experience in transmission grid operations, with increasing responsibility.
Preferred:
Advanced degree (MSEE or MBA).
3+ years in a supervisory or management role within a transmission operations center.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
