The Transition Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of business transitions, ensuring successful migration of processes, services, or functions into target delivery models with minimal disruption. This role involves cross-functional coordination, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and delivering on-time, quality outcomes aligned to business objectives.
ResponsibilitiesTransition Planning & Governance
Develop and manage detailed transition plans, including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation.
Establish governance frameworks and reporting cadences for all transition phases.
Methodology Compliance
Ensure adherence to the organization’s transition methodology, including tollgate reviews, sign-offs, and change control processes.
Leverage best practices, checklists, and tools to ensure consistency and quality.
Stakeholder Management
Engage with internal and external stakeholders (business leads, GBS teams, functional experts) to align on scope, expectations, and timelines.
Act as the primary point of contact for issue resolution and escalations.
Risk & Change Management
Identify transition risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
Partner with change management teams to drive adoption, engagement, and training efforts.
Workshops & Knowledge Transfer (KT)
Lead knowledge transfer planning and execution (shadowing, reverse shadowing, hands-on).
Facilitate workshops, process walk-throughs, SOP reviews, and sign-offs.
Performance Tracking & Quality Control
Define KPIs for transition success and track progress via ramp-up trackers, dashboards, and health checks.
Ensure deliverables meet business and quality standards (SOP completeness, SLA alignment, stabilization metrics).
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate transition documentation, including weekly status reports, minutes, risk logs, RAID, and action trackers.
Prepare executive-level presentations to update leadership on status, risks, and decisions.
Problem Solving & Issue Resolution
Proactively resolve issues and roadblocks during transition.
Apply structured problem-solving techniques to keep the project on track.
Post-Transition Stabilization
Monitor stabilization KPIs and ensure seamless handover to operations.
Lead hypercare planning and support model setup.
Continuous Improvement
Conduct post-mortem/lessons learned sessions.
Recommend process improvements for future transitions based on learnings and metrics.
Requirements:Key Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in project management or transition/change management roles (PM certification preferred)
Strong analytical and planning skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, project tracking tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, JIRA)
