The Transit Accessibility Specialist enables as many customers with disabilities to use COAST’s fixed route system as possible. This position handles all eligibility determinations for COAST’s demand response programs, including ADA complementary paratransit and senior transportation. The Specialist works closely with customers to determine functional abilities and provides travel training to help customers use COAST’s services. This position involves some paperwork, though much of the time will be spent in the field. COAST is seeking someone with a background in occupational therapy, nursing, or a related field with knowledge of various disabilities and experience working with people with disabilities.
This is a part-time position with flexible working hours. Weekly hours may vary between ten (10) and twenty-eight (28) hours per week, based on demand. Work will typically occur between 7:00am and 6:00pm Monday – Saturday, though the Transit Accessibility Specialist will have substantial flexibility to determine exact working hours in coordination with the Director of Operations and according to the needs of customers. Some work outside these hours may occasionally be necessary. COAST is targeting a mid- to late- August start date for this position.
Schedule: Approximately 10 – 28 hours per week. Subject to weekly fluctuations in demand.
