No County Albany Street Address State Police Academy Building 22 City Albany State NY Zip Code 12226 Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director of Training, the incumbent will assist with the planning and administration of Division’s training programs. This position is responsible for ensuring that training for personnel aligns with the Division’s goals, complies with state mandates, and supports professional development across all organizational levels. In addition, the incumbent will provide supervisory oversight to civilian staff assigned to the Academy to ensure effective support of training delivery and administration. Specifically, they will:Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Division’s training initiatives to improve the knowledge, skills, and job performance of employees.Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) operations at the Academy, through supervision of Program Aide, ensuring accurate training record-keeping, compliance tracking, and system functionality.Coordinate with executive leadership and internal stakeholders to assess training needs, develop new instructional content, and modify existing programs to reflect evolving organizational priorities and regulatory requirements.Monitor program effectiveness through data analysis, surveys, and feedback tools; use findings to inform continuous improvement of civilian training programs.Represent the Academy in training-related workgroups, councils, or interagency initiatives, and serve as a subject matter expert on internal and external civilian training offerings.Prepare reports, executive briefings, and recommendations to inform policy and training development decisions across the Division.Support accreditation-related documentation and maintain training databases consistent with Division and DCJS standards.Provide direct supervision to assigned civilian staff, including the Training Specialist 1, Program Research Specialist 1, Program Aide, Administrative Assistant 1, and Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), ensuring effective task prioritization and administrative support of training operations.Oversee work related to correspondence preparation, training material production, file and database maintenance, SLMS data entry, and logistical support for training events and graduation ceremonies.Ensure the administrative workflows are timely, accurate, and aligned with training schedules and Academy directives.Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support professional development for supervised personnel.Maintain a collaborative work environment that promotes efficiency, accountability, and high-quality support services for Academy operations.Assist with special projects, strategic planning, and policy development related to training or Academy operations as directed by the Director of Training. Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent service in a Training Specialist 1, SG-18 position,ORSeven years of relevant experience developing, implementing and/or conducting training. A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for four (4) years of experience. A Master’s Degree for an additional one (1) year of experience.Preferred Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that have:Supervisory experience.Administrative training experience for a law enforcement agency.Minimum qualifications must be met by the closing date of the posting.
