This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the Global Engineering Services (GES) division.
The Training Manager assesses training needs and designs, implements and manages training programs for a global organization.
What You’ll Work On
Defines organizational training needs and manages the design and implementation of projects that support curriculum development.Translates organization’s long range strategy into goals and actions and monitors performance against those goals and actions.Identifies and manages the resources required to design and implement the program curriculum.Works with subject matter experts to assess and define training needs.Ensure training plans are followed and reports are submitted on time to maintain safety and compliance.Utilizes instructional design and adult learning principles to determine appropriate solutions and design strategies.Manages the development of training content and curriculum per the strategy.Functions with minimal supervision and uses time effectively and efficiently.Establishes key work partnerships and manages team resources to complete planned curriculum development and addresses ad hoc business requests.Ensures compliance to Abbott’s Quality System and to department policies and procedures.Demonstrates the ability to identify problems and opportunities for improvement, investigates, and institutes changes to resolve the problems or implement productivity improvements.Functions as a training process owner, defines processes and writes procedures for the applicable processes.Interacts with teams to develop and/or revise processes and procedures.Uses oral and written communication to accomplish business goals and improve productivity.Exchanges information at appropriate frequency and within a time frame to maximize its utility and promote cross functional collaboration. Verifies information is understood by recipients.Open to change and continued personal development. Acquires the skills, knowledge and experience to support training implementation.Accountability/Scope of Position
Reports to the Director level and is accountable for assessing and implementing quality training needs impacting Division and Corporate processes, procedures and applications.Impacts division goals, objectives and compliance.Internal customer interactions include interface with various levels of management.Operates under minimal supervision, determines priorities to meet short and long term objectives, oversees team resource management and determine when additional management input is required.Manages a team of training and instructional design professionals.The scope of this position is global.Required Qualifications
B.A./B.S. in Business/Education/Science. Masters preferred. Minimum of 8 years progressive industry experience required with a minimum of 4 years in a function where training was all or part of the positions responsibility.Requires a demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles in a variety of learning environments (i. e. Instructor-led, CBT/WBT, etc).Technically oriented and knowledgeable in the use of training development software (i. e. The base pay for this position is $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
