We’re looking for an experienced Traffic Supervisor to join our Infrastructure Delivery team. In this role, you’ll be working on the Ōtaki to North of Levin highway project, playing a key part in leading safe and efficient traffic management across multiple worksites.
The Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience, and efficiency, as well as increasing transport choices for the area’s growing population. The Ō2NL project is led in Ppartnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaūpoko Tribal Authority, local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga and council partner Horowhenua District Council.
This transformative project is being delivered using a two-alliance approach, with each alliance delivering a section of the road and associated works. Together alliance partners are working to create a positive legacy for the region, led by our project principles to tread lightly with the whenua and create an enduring legacy. Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
As a Traffic Supervisor, you’ll support and guide crews, ensuring all setups follow approved plans while maintaining high safety and quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines planning with on-site coordination, including rostered day and night shifts, as well as on-call duties.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Support the planning and safe setup of traffic management sites, ensuring all work meets required standards.Lead and guide crews on-site, setting daily tasks and promoting a positive, safety-first team culture.Maintain vehicles and equipment, ensuring everything is safe, well-kept, and used efficiently.Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and teams to keep projects on track.Promote health and safety by leading site checks, reporting hazards, and encouraging safe practices.Work collaboratively with alliance partners and respect Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in all interactions.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract or internal secondment for two years, with the possibility of extension. The role is primarily based at our Ōtaki South office, with travel throughout the region as required.

It is essential for you to have some knowledge and experience in the Traffic Management and construction sectors. You will be able to demonstrate your supervisory experience with responsibility & accountability for staff, plant and return on investment. Furthermore, you will have the following:
STMS A/B/C PA Current Full Class 2 Licence,Strong verbal, written and computer skills with an ability to effectively communicate at all levels.An understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements relating to regulatory and industry standards.Working knowledge of COPTTM and NZGTTM how Traffic Management relates to our clients work activities.
