ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Transportation team is growing and we are looking for a Traffic Signal Specialist to help design smarter, safer, and more efficient traffic systems that keep our communities moving. We’re looking for a skilled professional who’s passionate about signal timing, traffic safety, and making a real difference through data-driven solutions.

 

Responsibilities

Work of signal timing optimization and implementation to maximize transportation system throughput (using SYNCHRO, Tru-Traffic and similar programs)Understanding of traffic signal operations including familiarity with various controller types and platformsProvide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures

 Skills and Attributes

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsThe ability to manage multiple assignments and work independentlyA strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieveExcellent attention to detailExperience with MicroStationExpertise with Synchro and SimTraffic; experience with Tru-Traffic

Qualifications

5+ years of signal design engineering experience or equivalent experience depending on level of education7 - 10 years of experience working on signal timings and controllers preferredBachelor’s Science Degree or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferredExperience working with Synchro and ATMS software requiredIMSA Traffic Signal II certification- or able to obtain
