Tradesperson - HVAC Shop/ Day Shift
**41648BR** **Extended Job Title:** Tradesperson - HVAC Shop/ Day Shift **Position Description:** Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. **Requisition ID:** 41648BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** + Performs component replacement and repairs on refrigeration and HVAC systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and valving. + Conducts preventive maintenance on refrigeration, exhaust, ventilation, and air production equipment; inspects, calibrates, tests system devices; handles CFC recovery and recycling with documentation. + Maintains gas furnaces by inspecting, testing, cleaning, repairing, and adjusting or replacing controls for safe, efficient operation; maintains air compressors for research labs. + Performs ongoing maintenance of mechanical and equipment rooms, including air handlers, pumps, pipes, and insulation; services air handlers as needed. + Assists Tradesperson Leader with inspecting job assignments and supervising work site operations. + Supports record-keeping of materials and labor for each job; helps assess material requirements and prepares requisitions. + Maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe, organized condition; operates pickups, trucks, and vans; secures equipment and work areas. + Provides after-hours and emergency overtime work on a rotating basis. **Grant Funded?:** No **Minimum Hire Rate:** Compensation will be based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and defined years of experience to align with the appropriate career levels for the Tradeperson specialty in the Operations Division Facilities Maintenance Career Plan. **Pay Basis:** Hourly **Work Location:** Lubbock **Department:** Ops Div Facilities Maintenance **Job Type:** Full Time **Job Group:** Skilled Crafts **Occasional Duties:** + Training and experience as pneumatic and temperature control technician. + Ability to calibrate and test pneumatic and electronic temperature control devices. **Shift:** Day **Required Qualifications:** Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent.
