**41621BR** **Extended Job Title:** Tradesperson - Electric Shop **Position Description:** Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. **Requisition ID:** 41621BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** + Electrical Maintenance: Performs various electrical maintenance tasks including (but not limited to) troubleshooting and repairing lighting fixtures and controls, troubleshooting and repairing power and lighting circuits, troubleshooting and repairing motor and control circuits, troubleshooting and repairing power distribution systems and transformers. + Electrical Projects: Performs various small to medium sized projects that require running conduit, setting various junction/outlet boxes, pulling & terminating wire and installing fixtures & devices. + Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings. A working knowledge of the National Electric Code is preferred. + Provides after hours overtime work as required (Sporting events, concerts, graduations and other events). Participates in emergency call-back roster on a rotating basis. Attends scheduled training as required to maintain mechanical skills, technical qualifications and licensing requirements. + Maintains vehicle, tools, equipment and materials in an orderly and safe condition. Operates vehicles including pickups, trucks and vans. Secures vehicle, equipment and areas of operation. Operator will ensure vehicles are maintained in safe operating condition prior to use. Reports defective vehicle, tools and equipment to the shop foreman/tradesman leader. + Assists with on-the-job training program for personnel enrolled in the apprenticeship training program where applicable. **Grant Funded?:** No **Minimum Hire Rate:** Compensation will be based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and defined years of experience to align with the appropriate career levels for the Tradesperson specialty in the Operations Division Facilities Maintenance Career Plan. **Pay Basis:** Hourly **Schedule Details:** 7:45 AM - 4:45 PM **Work Location:** Lubbock **Preferred Qualifications:** Applicants for this Security Sensitive Level II position will be subject to a criminal background check and must pass a drug and alcohol test after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed. Minimum of five (5) years on-the-job experience as a journey electrician. Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
