No County Albany Street Address University at Albany (Office of Facilities Management, Power Plant) 1400 Washington Ave City Albany State NY Zip Code 12203 Duties Description Ability to perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the diagnosis and repair of HVAC, Mechanical and Electrical Systems; ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 50 pounds, working from ladders, scaffolds and lifts, work at heights 25'+ and in confined spaces; plan and execute assignments with considerable independence; work overtime as required for emergencies and campus events; ability to work with a computerized maintenance management system; ability to wear a negative pressure respirator, pass a fit test and use other personal protective equipment related to the job duties; ability to determine repairs and replacement of equipment, plan work, organize apprentices and helpers with materials and equipment for projects and maintain stocked inventory of materials required; Valid New York State Driver's license required. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. This position may be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators.
