Trade Compliance Manager

Position Summary

The Trade Compliance Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Technology Control Plan (TCP) to ensure compliance with national and international export control regulations and internal security protocols.  In collaboration with the site Trade Compliance Officer, IT Security, and the AJISS Program Management and Engineering teams, the TCM contributes to drafting compliance documents, delivering training and awareness sessions, attending program meetings, supporting the completion of Security Requirements Checklists (SRCLs) and ensuring monitoring adherence to applicable export and security requirements. A key focus of the role involves the classification of export-controlled and controlled goods technologies, as well as managing access authorizations to ensure only cleared personnel have access to sensitive information. The TCM plays a vital role in safeguarding the integrity and security of technical data throughout the organization.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Be subject matter expert and provide guidance on trade compliance and Controlled Goods Program matters to all internal and external stakeholders of the AJISS programCollaborate with the TCO to draft the Technology Control Plan (TCP) prior to receiving controlled information to ensure early and proactive compliance.Attend and lead meetings with Program Management (PM), Engineering (ENG), the TCM, Chief Security Officer (CSO), and suppliers to review compliance status, address concerns, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards.Prepare and deliver trainings and briefings to all AJISS stakeholders.Support the AJISS team in classifying and marking data under Canadian (ECL and Controlled Goods List) and US (ITAR/EAR) regulations and mapping all sensitive data to corresponding storage locations.Manage access control to the project’s controlled information; Manage the transfer process of controlled information.Export authorization and record keeping management.Conduct internal audits, alone or in collaboration with the Trade Compliance Officer and Quality Assurance (QA), to verify compliance with the TCP, national and international export regulations, and supplier agreements.

Minimum Requirements

Diploma/Degree in business or engineering and/or equivalent experience in a business environment3-5 Experience in export control management or compliance (sanctions)Familiarization with Canadian and US trade regulations (EIPA, CGP, ITAR, EAR)Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, word, Excel and Power PointAptitude for or experience with the use of information systems (ex: SAP, Windchill, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in working the defence industryKnowledge on CGPKnowledge on IT SecurityExperience with the use of an ERP system (ex: SAP)

Special Position Requirements

Full time, standard business hours. Travel Max 5 times per year (Canada and US)
