The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Trade Assistant – Electrical Plant Site
About the role
Reporting to the Foreman – Electrical Plant Site, you will be responsible for controlling the physical flow of parts into and out of the workshop.
In this role, you will:
Coordinate workshop activities including scheduling repairs, maintenance, and inspections. Manage parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organizing parts. Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials. Assist tradespeople with locating and obtaining necessary parts and equipment. Maintain accurate records of parts inventory, usage, and orders. Monitor workshop efficiency and suggest improvements to streamline operations. Maintain a clean and safe work environment Disposal of waste materials in compliance with site standards Follow all safety procedures and protocols while always working and adhere to company policies and regulations Participate in training programs and skill development initiatives to enhance technical knowledge and proficiency Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and all related rules and proceduresAbout You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
Minimum of Grade 10 or above educational level Able to read and write English at an Upper Secondary School Standard Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team in both English and/or Tok Pisin. Formal training and experience in workshop parts handling is highly desired Trade qualifications highly desired Previous participation in Job Ready or Trade Training Programs highly desirable Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and protocols Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from Supervisors and Technicians Physically fit and able to work in different weather conditionsMobilization Requirement
All Applicants must have an up-to-date police clearance Certificate, Acquired within the last 6 months Ability to successfully pass a pre- employment medical and drug and alcohol test Be a Local Porgeran (Cat 1A – SML, Cat 1B –LMP or Cat 2 – Other Porgera) Candidate and available to start immediately The Roster is 20 days on and 8 days off Females are encouraged to apply.Closing Date: Monday 28th, July 2025
