Start date: The next start date will be September 2025; however, the successful candidate could join Howmet prior to September to begin to build a meaningful portfolio of evidenced learning
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Toolmaker Apprentice to join our Casting toolroom team at our plant in Exeter. The apprenticeship will involve training in CAD / CAM / CNC Machining also all toolmaking skills.
Apprentice Duties & Responsibilities:
To learn and perform scheduled and maintenance on all mould tools.Machine components using lathes, drilling, manual milling, grinders, NC and CNC milling machinesMeasurement instruments such as micrometres, gauges and vernier callipers to check the tool’s dimensions and component accuracy monitoring the tools used on the manufacturing line and address any necessary repairs or possible improvementsattending machine breakdowns to identify the root cause and solve the problemmould tool planned maintenanceDesign and manufacture small mould tools, jigs and fixtures Follow work processes and safety standards closely to ensure a safe working environmentTo be committed in working towards achieving the competencies set out in the apprenticeship standardsMaintain an apprenticeship training record to be produced when required
