Job Responsibilities: + Able to support production through the use of manual equipment and independently solve problems. + Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal-working dies, cutting tools, fixtures, gauges, and machine hand tools. + Depending on campus location, toolmakers may create precision molds to support manufacturing using vertical milling centers, EDM centers, precision grinders, and 3-D printers. Basic Hiring Criteria: + Proficiency in the operation of manual mills, lathes and grinders. + Proficiency in Geometry, Trigonometry, basic Algebra, fractions and decimals. + Ability to select and use appropriate cutting tools. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints. + Ability to create work-holding fixtures and gauges for manufacturing and assembly. + Experience with basic machining principles, including tooling types, speeds & feeds, threading, surface finish, and tool holding ( i.e. collets, chucks). + Familiarity with CAD software.­­ + Ability to use micrometers, calipers, test indicators, and a Cadillac gauge. + An understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics in fixtures. + Depending on campus location, a working knowledge of Heat Treat and material s. + Ability to use Prototrak/advanced conversational controllers, program mill, MasterCam, or CAM software. + Self-motivated to work independently or with associates on the line to find solutions to problems. + Detail & quality oriented. + Communicate detailed or important information to others accuratel y. + Must be capable of prioritizing and time management while working under pressure with a minimal amount of supervision.
