We are seeking a skilled Tooling Engineer to oversee the design and build of tooling required to produce custom parts for Automotive OEMs. This role involves direct communication with customers to address engineering issues and ensure timely schedules.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee tooling design and build to produce custom parts for Automotive OEMs.
+ Communicate with customers to address engineering issues and keep schedules on time.
+ Manage work orders, routings, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
+ Adhere to Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes and procedures, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), flow diagrams, and control plans.
+ Act as a liaison between Engineering, Die Shop, Quality, and Production teams, addressing issues with die assembly or part manufacturing.
+ Assist tool room personnel with troubleshooting production tooling.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience in Tool & Die Design.
+ 3D Design experience with Unigraphics NX or other CAD packages.
+ Expertise in metals manufacturing, particularly stamping or progressive dies.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related experience as a die-making journeyman & tool designer.
+ Strong preference for experience interacting with end customers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with tooling design, tool and die, CAD, stamping, and assembly.
+ Knowledge of metal stamping or progressive dies, Unigraphics NX, and progressive stamping.
Work Environment
The role involves splitting time evenly between the office and the production floor. Office work focuses on tooling design and customer interactions, while floor time is dedicated to addressing assembly or machining issues requiring engineering changes. This position typically requires 40 hours per week, but may demand additional hours or weekend work to meet critical project deadlines. The work environment features a beautiful corporate building attached to the plant floor, offering growth and development opportunities, and exposure to working directly with major Automotive OEMs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
