Job Description
As a Tooling Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain progressive dies used in high volume metal stamping processes. You will be responsible for maintaining molds and ensuring precision and quality of stamped parts. The role requires proficiency in reading blueprints, using CAD software, operating basic machine tools, and utilizing mechanical and optical measuring devices.
ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot manufacturing issues to ensure precision and quality of stamped parts.Collaborate with other departments to determine tooling methods, applications, and design concepts.Obtain quotes for new dies and die repairs.Develop engineering specifications regarding mechanics, materials, tolerances, designs, and cost estimates.Inspect finished dies for accuracy and functionality.Order tooling and components for new die builds.Supervise the initial tool use in production.Essential SkillsProficiency in CAD design and metal stamping tool design.Experience in AutoCAD design and electromechanical BOM.Injection mold design and production support capabilities.Additional Skills & QualificationsAt least 6 years of tooling experience.Broad knowledge in mechanical engineering.Experience in vendor communication.Strong root cause problem-solving skills.Work Environment
The role is onsite and hands-on, supporting tooling design and modification. It involves a 50-50 split between hands-on tasks and desk work. Work hours are from 6 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 6 AM to 10 AM on Friday. There is an opportunity for an extended weekend and a variety of projects due to a high mix/low volume portfolio.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.89/hr.
