Tool Maker II


Job Description:

Entry-Level Machinist Skills; holds tolerances +/-0.002, capable of setting up and running both manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, etc., repairs and replaces fixtures and components in support of production, performs tasks with minimal guidance and supervision.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Repair, build, clean and assemble all types of molds and mold bases and perform machining operations on tool room machines using all necessary machine attachments to make replacement parts and tools.Operates various types of machine shop equipment (manual/CNC) to complete assignment as required.Works from and interprets blueprints and 3D models to create or modify, molds, tools and fixtures.Takes instructions for senior tool makers to create or modify, molds, dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures. Select cutting tools, holding fixtures, machine feeds and speeds.Must possess good technical judgment and able to set logical action plans for machining parts to print by determining the sequence of operations.Regular reporting of progress to the management team, both verbally and through written reports.Assists in the estimating, planning, and timely completion of assigned work.Records data required to accurately track mold, die maintenance activity.Maintains the work area through good housekeeping and safety practice in accordance with 5S standards.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:   

AA / Technical degree, technical apprenticeship, or 5+ years’ experience in a technical tool making role. 

Minimum 5 years’ experience setting up and operating CNC machines to hold tolerances of +/-0.002 in a medical environment for mold, dies, and fixtures.Plus if experience in a injection molding manufacturing environment.Experience with CAD programs, especially SolidworksFamiliar with CAM software for G-Code generation.Able to read and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) of part and assembly drawing and sketch.                                            

LANUGUAGE SKILLS:         

Excellent communications skills, both written and oral are required.                                              Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and operating procedures.  Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization is required.

  

COMPUTER SKILLS:   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have complete knowledge and practical use of Microsoft office applications.

Competent with use of personal computers and related software is desirable, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.Must possess excellent Communication (Technical, Oral, Written).Must possess excellent technical judgment and able to set logical action plan and technical problem resolution. 

                             

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.

$18.20 - $27.30 per hour
