Thermal Component Engineer/Technical Leader – Fan Reliability and Failure Analysis

The Component Quality and Technology Organization in Supply Chain Operations is a key hub of technical innovation in Cisco. Members of the organization have a broad scope of influence: interacting with Business Units, Product Operations, Manufacturing Operations, Planning and Fulfillment, Supplier Management and directly with Suppliers. In addition, members of the organization participate in industry consortia, conferences and collaborate with academia and other strategic partners. The organization focuses on evaluating and adopting new technologies to help Cisco leapfrog the competition in advanced algorithms and solutions to solve complex problems. 

Your Impact

v You will be part of a world class Component Quality and Technology Group in Supply Chain Operations, and contribute to ensuring customer success for strategic Cisco products 

v Lead the Investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action for customer and manufacturing thermal related product and component failures.

v Develop and execute test plans to root cause and reproduce component and system failures.

v Develop and maintain metrics to measure and improve customer quality and reliability 

v Contribute to the development of test plans and qualification requirements to ensure manufacturing robustness and long-term reliability of fans, fan trays and other thermal components

 

v Collaborate with several Cisco hardware design teams to improve specifications and qualification procedures.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Provide up to five (5) bullet points - these should be clearly defined, objective, non-comparative, relevant, and quantifiable to appropriately evaluate applicants – not including soft skills):

 

·    BS in Electrical Engineering 

·    8-10 years experience in design and/or manufacturing of fans and fan trays for electronics applications. 

·    Knowledge of industry practices and standards, such as IPC 9591, for fans.

·    Experience in Electronic circuit schematic review and/or design.

·    Expertise in testing and troubleshooting PCBA/circuit failures.

·    Knowledge of electronic components such as MCUs, FETs and other devices.

·    PCB/PCBA manufacturing experience and knowledge of industry standards like IPC 610A.

·    Knowledge in system assembly and test processes for compute and networking products.

·    Thorough knowledge of Reliability Engineering, qualification and failure prediction 

·    Expertise in root cause analysis, correction action and validation of failures 

·    Understanding of electronics cooling methodologies and technologies

 

·    Fluency in English and Mandarin

Preferred Qualifications (Provide up to five (5) bullet points: these can include soft skills)

·       MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.

·     10+ years experience in design, qualification, and/or manufacturing of fans and fan     trays for electronics applications. 

·       10+ years of relevant industry experience in electronics reliability engineering

·       Comprehensive knowledge of qualification standards and test procedures for compute and networking products.

·       Ability to lead by influence without direct reporting chain and advise executive decision makers

·       Self-starter, proven ability to work independently on multiple projects and priorities 

·       Ability to think quickly, respond to changing demands, anticipate future problems, and recommend preventative courses of action

·       Excellent communication, project management and metrics design skills

 

·       Ability to create presentations for diverse audiences and varying executive levels to support agile decision-making
