Job SummaryThe Occupational Therapy Helpant assists with rehabilitative activities for patients with developmental, physical, and emotional impairments. This position performs occupational therapy treatments to restore autonomous functioning or minimize debilitation.
Essential Functions of the RoleProvides occupational therapy treatments under a licensed Occupational Therapist's direction. Assists in developing, improving, and restoring autonomous functioning or minimizing debilitation.Communicates with the supervising therapist regarding patient progress or needs for updating plan of care.Establishes rapport with the patient in a professional manner.Provides necessary equipment or instruction to patient or family before discharge. Performs splinting application and educates in its use.Prepares comprehensive, concise, and timely documentation of patient treatment and progress. Supervises ancillary staff and students when appropriate and assigned. Effectively communicates treatment information to ancillary staff.Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to maintain awareness of patient status.Fulfills continuing education or certification requirements to maintain qualifications. Takes responsibility to know and complete professional and technical requirements. QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION - Associate'sEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of ExperienceCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Occupational Ther Asst (OTA)
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
