Note: Benefits may vary based on position type and/or level **Job Summary** The Occupational Therapy Helpant assists with rehabilitative activities for patients with developmental, physical, and emotional impairments. This position performs occupational therapy treatments to restore autonomous functioning or minimize debilitation. **Essential Functions of the Role** + Provides occupational therapy treatments under a licensed Occupational Therapist's direction. Assists in developing, improving, and restoring autonomous functioning or minimizing debilitation. + Communicates with the supervising therapist regarding patient progress or needs for updating plan of care. + Establishes rapport with the patient in a professional manner. + Provides necessary equipment or instruction to patient or family before discharge. Performs splinting application and educates in its use. + Prepares comprehensive, concise, and timely documentation of patient treatment and progress. Supervises ancillary staff and students when appropriate and assigned. Effectively communicates treatment information to ancillary staff. + Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to maintain awareness of patient status. + Fulfills continuing education or certification requirements to maintain qualifications. Takes responsibility to know and complete professional and technical requirements.
