Serenity Knolls is a 42-bed co-ed residential treatment center in Forest Knolls, nestled in the serene San Geronimo Valley of West Marin. We provide compassionate, integrated care for adults (18+) with co-occurring disorders—substance use and mental health—and blend the 12-step social model with CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based practices.
We’re seeking a compassionate and skilled AMFT or LMFT Therapist to join our team and help transform lives in a healing and supportive environment.
CompensationHourly Range: $33.00 – $44.00 (DOE)
Compensation varies by experience and qualifications, in accordance with California law.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package for both Full-Time (36–40 hrs/week) and Part-Time (30–35 hrs/week) employees.

Essential Functions of the TherapistApply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions to deliver services to individuals and families, focusing on emotional and behavioral disorders.
Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan.
Lead individual, group, or family therapy sessions based on the patient's treatment plan.
Provide initial treatment planning and coordinate additional services as needed, making revisions as necessary.
Document therapy services provided to each patient per facility and professional standards, updating as required.
Manage and maintain a caseload as assigned.
Participate in treatment team meetings, collaborating with other staff to facilitate patient care in line with treatment plans.
Provide services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
May assist in case management, discharge, or aftercare planning.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude at all times. Address and resolve complaints when patient needs are unmet.
Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation/Experience:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Counseling, or Human Services field required.
One or more year of experience working with comparable patient population required.
Licenses/Certifications:
AMFT or LMFT licensure (or license-eligible) in California.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (provided on hire).
First aid certification may be required depending on facility policy.
