Note: This is a 3 Tier Position; Pay Is Based on Educational Degrees And Experience
Position Statement:
The Therapeutic Support Services (TSS) staff serve as a vital resource within the residential program, offering direct support to staff through hands-on teaching, coaching, and mentoring in the milieu. In addition, TSS staff guide trauma-informed interventions during behavioral and emotional incidents involving youth. This role is essential in promoting a safe, therapeutic environment that supports emotional regulation, preserves the dignity of each youth, and reinforces individualized treatment approaches.
Responsibilities:
+ Support staff by teaching, coaching, and modeling therapeutic responses.
+ Maintain the safety of youth and staff while minimizing the use of physical intervention.
+ Collaborate with clinical, residential management, and administrative teams to support individualized crisis support plans (ICSPs).
+ Respond promptly and appropriately to crises and behavioral incidents using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques.
+ Participate in incident debriefings with youth and staff to promote understanding, reflection, and repair.
+ Accurately document incidents, interventions, and outcomes under licensing and program standards.
+ Monitor for patterns of youth behavior or systemic issues and contribute to proactive intervention planning.
+ Support a culture of accountability, safety, and empathy.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience :
+ Tier 1
+ High School Diploma
+ Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in child welfare/juvenile justice, mental health, or crisis settings.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience conducting coaching and mentoring with employees.
+ Tier 2
+ Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in child welfare/juvenile justice, mental health, or crisis settings.
+ Minimum 1 year of experience with crisis intervention, risk assessments, and incident management.
+ Minimum 1 year of experience conducting training with employees.
+ Tier 3
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s clinical degree within human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
+ Minimum 2-4 years of experience working with youth in child welfare/juvenile justice, mental health, or crisis settings.
+ Minimum 2 -4 years of experience with crisis intervention, risk assessments, and incident management.
+ Minimum of 2 -4 years of experience conducting training with employees.
Essential Job Qualifications:
+ Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent organizational and time management.
+ Ability to make sound professional decisions quickly despite stressful atmosphere.
+ Ability to handle stressful and constantly changing conditions.
+ Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
+ Able to provide crisis intervention, including physical restraints. Restraints may include resistive force, bending, squatting, kneeling, lying down, and holding the youth to maintain safety.
+ Ability to sit, squat, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
+ Ability to lift arms overhead in a reaching motion
+ Ability to walk up and down stairs several times per day.
+ Travel as required based on departmental needs.
+ Valid Driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.
