Caterpillar’s Advanced Materials Technology (AMT) division plays a critical role in supporting the company’s global heat treat manufacturing operations, processes, and technology development. AMT is currently seeking a seasoned Heat Treat Controls Engineer to provide exceptional technical support to our business unit partners. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to develop and implement advanced manufacturing processes and support complex machinery and equipment. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring equipment safety and reliability, maintaining process parameter integrity, and driving innovation in machine data systems. This position also requires deep knowledge across multiple disciplines, including safety compliance, electrical design, controls architecture, programming, and industrial networking.
What You Will Do:
Work on various automation & robotic integration projectsDevelop new technology on networking, and process controlDesign, install, and validate electrical architecture for new and existing manufacturing equipmentCreate specifications in support of equipment build and upgradesImplement, maintain, and update furnace equipment safety systems critical to operationsTroubleshooting of database and reporting platformsTroubleshooting machine programming, and material handling/roboticsCollect and report production from various systems to improve quality and process efficiencyImplement and maintain cyber security practices to protect intellectual property and machine assetsParticipating on many projects concurrently and with cross-functional teamsDevelop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or Materials Science.

Applies advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to resolve high-impact equipment and systems issues, including performance-related and multi-vendor integration challenges.Evaluates business-critical failures, monitors machine performance trends, and addresses recurring maintenance concerns.Brings hands-on experience with RSLogix, FactoryTalk View Studio, Fanuc and ABB robots, industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Stratix switches), and database systems (Oracle, SQL Server), along with strong knowledge of electrical safety and controls architecture.Product Design and Development:
Leads the development and implementation of innovative product design processes, including proof-of-concept validation and prototype creation.Establishes organizational standards to enhance efficiency across diverse product lines and advises on complex design challenges.Top Candidates Will Also Have:
A strong electrical engineering background with hands-on experience in both electrical and mechanical systems.Familiarity with industrial controls and automation systems, including troubleshooting and optimization.A proactive approach to resolving shop-floor issues and supporting production teams.A commitment to continuous learning, with training already underway or scheduled to enhance technical skills.Additional Information

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
