The Boeing CompanyBoeing Phantom Works is seeking a Test & Evaluation Engineer to support proprietary activities in Las Vegas, NV. The individual selected for this position will serve as a Test Conductor on a test team charged with integrating, testing, and evaluating state-of-the-art technologies. Responsibilities include test planning, test technique development, test card generation, test execution, data review / analysis, and test reporting associated with test programs for critical customer-directed technology maturation.
Note: Primarily 1st shift. However, off-shift work and time away from home will be required on a regular basis.
Position Responsibilities:
Apply in-depth knowledge of test and evaluation processes and methods to guide test team through all phases of testing from planning to reportingAdvocate and advise for testability during design of test hardware, software, and systemsDevelop and document standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatable, effective, and efficient testsIdentify and mitigate technical and safety risks during test planning processDefine instrumentation and test article configuration requirements needed to perform testsDevelop detailed test plans, test procedures, and test cardsBrief the test team and direct test execution in various environments to include control room settingsDebrief test events and incorporate lessons learned into future test activitiesPrepare and publish test reports to document test results and satisfy requirementsPresent test results internally and participate in anomaly resolutionRapidly acquire knowledge of normal and emergency procedures, operating limitations, and systems operationPlan and conduct test planning working group meetings, technical and safety review boards, and test readiness reviewsDocument operating limitations and recommend changes to technical publicationsTrain new test conductors and flight test engineersWork under minimal directionThis position is expected to be 100% on site. The selected candidate will be required to work on site at the listed location.
This position requires an active U.S. TOP SECRET security clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (Note: A U.S. security clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
3+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry3+ years of experience as a Test Conductor or Test Director performing real-time test execution in a control room setting to include data monitoring, test point clearance, test team management, and standard communication protocols.3+ years of experience planning and executing complex tests to demonstrate state-of-the-art technologiesAbility to effectively interface with personnel from multiple engineering, manufacturing, and operations disciplinesAbility to communicate effectively and partner with personnel from government and industryCapable of working in environments with ambiguous requirements and limited oversightAbility to work independently as well as train and mentor less experienced test team membersA Bachelors (or higher) engineering degreePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
Experience with Boeing tactical aircraft test and evaluation processes and products such as Test Information Sheets (TIS) and Flight Preparation Sheets (FPS)Experience with all elements of the AFTC test planning formatStrong MS Office application skills (primarily MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access)Ability to lead and engage in cross-discipline technical discussions as related to maintaining a disciplined test and evaluation approach (predict – test – validate)Typical Education & Experience | 6L9BI3 (689):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
