We’re seeking a proactive and technically skilled UL Certification & Test Engineer to lead our UL certification efforts and support motor testing initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring our motor and drive systems meet rigorous safety and performance standards. You’ll serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for UL compliance, working cross-functionally with engineering teams and certification agencies.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the UL Certification Process: Lead UL submission efforts from start to finish, including test plan development, documentation, lab coordination, and agency communication.Develop & Execute Test Protocols: Design and run performance, endurance, and safety tests for motors using advanced test equipment.Ensure Standards Compliance: Maintain compliance with UL 1004 series, UL 1446 (insulation systems), and other applicable standards (CSA, IEC).Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product development, mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to embed compliance early in the design cycle.Test Equipment Management: Operate and maintain lab equipment such as dynamometers, thermal chambers, power analyzers, and DAQs.Regulatory Monitoring: Stay current on evolving UL and international standards and advise on their impact.Lab Certification Support: Contribute to internal lab certification efforts and help establish a UL DAP (Data Acceptance Program) capability.What You’ll Focus on in the First 3–6 MonthsTake full ownership of the UL certification process.Identify and define UL submission requirements.Drive internal test plan development—transitioning from reliance on customer input to a proactive, in-house approach.Required Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in test engineering, validation, and test development.Hands-on experience with product testing and UL certification for motor and drive systems.Proficiency with test equipment and data acquisition systems.Familiarity with LabVIEW or other National Instruments tools.Experience with project management in a technical environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with UL 1004, UL 1446, CSA, and IEC standards.Experience in establishing or supporting UL DAP programs.Ability to work independently and drive certification processes proactively.Why Join Us?Flexible work environmentOpportunity to lead critical certification effortsWork with cutting-edge motor and drive technologiesCollaborate with a passionate and innovative engineering team
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
