Test Data Architect

The Opportunity

John Hancock has an unique opportunity for the incumbent to define and implement enterprise wide processes to consume and streamline test data provisioning , test data masking, automation and environment set up tasks that can easily transform data for use by the quality engineering team.

This role is responsible for designing and implementing  strategies for Test Data Management across software development lifecycle. This includes  data Provisioning ensuring HIPAA and other regulatory compliance. This role needs to be a dedicated role that works collaboratively with data architects to engineer test data into the lower environments. The data architects are confined to leading data initiatives and are seldom engaged in understanding the transactional test data needs. An architect is needed to understand the underlying data structure and work with the Test Data Lead and Test Environments Manager to maintain test data.

This is not a QA Testing role, rather a Test Data Architect role.

Office location: Ideally Boston - USA or Toronto - Canada or Waterloo - Canada

Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home;

Remote working option is not available.

Position Responsibilities:

Design and Implement test data Management frameworks and solutions

Develop strategies for synthetic data generation, data masking etc.

Define and Enforce data Governance and access Controls for test environment.

Understand the overall design and structure of data landscape in the organization.

Implement processes for data integration.

The candidate will also be working with the other Solution and Enterprise Architects in the team to understand data requirements across the segment and implement industry best practices to refine test data architecture.

Implement processes to consume test data in lower environments

Architect reusable frameworks to adopt data masking and data provisioning

Support data versioning and rollback strategies for various test scanariouse

Define and enforce data quality standards across platforms

Produce key test design documents and incremental data architecture artifacts based on project needs and our architectural target state

Develop related test data frameworks, design patterns, proof-of-concepts, and best practices for managing a robust test data network

Align on environment data governance

Architect synthetic data generation solutions to enable robust testing in non-production environments

Drive AI led data initiatives and self-service capabilities

Help synchronizing systems to have accurate data

Support all functional and non-functional testing needs

Collaborate with global data engineers , architects, DevOps teams

Propose efficient data solutions to manage transition of data downstream

Required Qualifications:

At least 8+ year IT industry experience

6 years of experience in data management and architecting data systems

Current with modern data engineering principles, frameworks, and design patterns in a Cloud environment – Azure preferred

Expertise in data masking, synthetic data generation and subsetting techniques

AI driven data strategies

Experience with data modelling

Working knowledge with various python libraries/frameworks such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras is a definite plus.

MUST have solid understanding of Test automation framework and Test strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with most of the following technologies is desirable - Informatica (ETL, CDI, TDM, IICS, DQ); DB/Middleware - SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, DB2, Hadoop, WebSphere, Pega; Analytics/Governance – Synapse, Databricks, MLOps, Purview; MDM – Informatica, InfoSphere, Quality Stage; Reporting – Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, Erwin.

Bachelors in a Data Science/Data Architect field

Certifications are highly desired but not an absolute must have.

Salary range is expected to be between

$104,860.00 USD - $194,740.00 USD
