General Statement
Testing Services is an interactive, high traffic, client-focused service unit that requires staff guidance for all exam events. The Test Center Coordinator plays an integral role within a small, versatile team and must be dependable and able to closely collaborate to ensure continuity and quality of services. This position offers meaningful opportunities to make tangible and immediate impacts— facilitating assessments that advance careers, support student success, and uphold the university’s mission of academic excellence and access.
The Test Center Coordinator performs a variety of technical and client support tasks and acts as a resource on matters related to certification, standardized and classroom exam administration, and score reporting procedures. Working directly with students, faculty, and community members, this individual provides proctoring services for distance learners, accommodated testing and support for students with disabilities, and will certify to administer exams for national testing programs and workforce credentialing.
This position typically staffs standard office hours (e.g., 8a-5p M-F; 40 hours/week) but may require occasional flexibility to cover evenings and/or Saturdays during busy times like midterms/finals or to support limited-window/weekend-only exam sessions. Nonstandard work hours are shared among staff and will be discussed and determined in advance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Exam Administration and Integrity
+ Acquire and implement up-to-date and complete knowledge of exam protocols and procedures.
+ Monitor examinees and exams to ensure the integrity of results, protect equity, and safeguard intellectual property.
+ Receive, prepare/print, and securely return exams and exam materials.
+ Conduct exam check-in/check-out/break procedures, including identity verification, security checks, and collecting biometrics.
+ Maintain records, compliance, equipment, and facilities with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Document and report irregularities as appropriate.
Customer Service and Support
+ Humanize the exam experience for a broad range of clientele. Respect confidentiality.
+ Help students and faculty understand and access the test center.
+ Effectively and diplomatically communicate with faculty, campus colleagues, and testing companies; respond constructively to feedback and de-escalate conflict.
+ Resolve complex or sensitive issues by actively listening, identifying root causes, and offering thoughtful, timely solutions.
+ Collaborate successfully with team members to provide superior service and support for all examinees.
Calendaring, Scheduling and Time Management
+ Manage multiple calendars to coordinate scheduling demands.
+ Set exam availability, track appointments, and analyze usage.
+ Manage exam timekeeping to ensure fairness and compliance.
+ Anticipate capacity challenges and coverage needs.
IT Operations and Technical Proficiency
+ Deploy computers, cameras, printers, and numerous software applications to ensure smooth administration of exams.
+ Conduct independent and supported IT maintenance and troubleshooting in a specialized and secure technical environment.
Training and Professional Development
+ Share expertise with campus and community constituents.
+ Assist with hiring and training staff and student workers.
+ Identify and pursue professional development opportunities in consultation with the Director.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Successful experience providing customer and/or administrative service in a dynamic, detail-dense, highly interactive workplace or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, comfort with basic IT systems and troubleshooting (Windows PCs preferred), and experience learning new IT applications.
+ Successful experience completing intricate tasks independently with minimal supervision and a high degree of accuracy.
+ Demonstrated experience interpreting, explaining, and applying policies and procedures to a broad group of individuals and in different types of situations.

+ Experience working with students/services in an academic setting.
+ Experience maintaining and protecting confidential information.
+ Experience working in an environment involving multiple schedules and strict staff coverage/policy compliance requirements.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
+ Certification to administer some tests is required; periodic re-certification is necessary. Training and support will be provided.
+ Coverage for evening and/or weekend test administration may be required on a limited basis and will be scheduled in advance.

Physical Demands
This position is located indoors in a busy, often fast-paced, and occasionally unpredictable office environment. Need the ability to work for long periods of time in an open/shared space with many interruptions including unexpected noises and people. Extensive computer and telephone use required. Extensive in person interaction with the public required. Will use household-grade cleaning supplies with optional PPE provided.
The test center and its location in Renne Library are ADA accessible. A public elevator is located in the lobby. Accessible restroomsare nearby on the same floor and/or in the same building. This is a fragrance-free office and we follow casual, but neat and non-distracting, dress code. Testing Services staff will abide public health and safety requirements as set by the university.
