The Terminal Manager is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day tactical Terminal operations. The role plays a key role in medium- and long-term strategic planning to enable growth while maintaining a safe operation that provides unparalleled service to CN’s Intermodal customers at low incremental cost. Furthermore, the position is required to lead employees in an environment governed by a collective agreement. 

Main Responsibilities 

Lead a team of both managers and unionized employees 

Ensure clear direction is given and safety is clearly understood to be the first priority 

Set daily and long-term objectives and monitor their execution to achieve success 

Supervise all managers and unionized employees ensuring all have the skills, abilities and competencies of duties required to be performed and all are followed consistently to ensure success 

Ensure all policies and operational processes are followed and reviewed for compliancy 

Review all operational processes continually to refine, optimize and simplify them to allow the team to execute efficiently and timely within all safety guidelines 

Follow safety rules and practices to enable success and help deliver outstanding service to CN’s customers in a cost-effective manner 

Lead and execute the daily plan while dealing with external dynamic pressures 

Working Conditions 

The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments with various weather conditions and with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role is required to be on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.  

Requirements 

Experience 

Supply Chain Logistics

Between 2 to 5 years of Supply Chain Logistics 

Education/Certification/Designation 

High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) 

Valid Driver’s License 

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Logistics Management* 

*Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Right Time Business Intelligence (RTBI), Intermodal Performance Measures (IPM), and DataCity 

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and change management 

Knowledge of risk assessment (e.g., cost and benefit analysis)
