Job Summary:Harvard Athletics is seeking a temporary, less than half-time (up to 14 hours per week), part-time tennis professional to teach tennis to recreation program members. This role will build and run the recreational tennis program at Harvard and will help generate revenue for the Athletics department through the recreational tennis program.
This is a less than half-time (temporary) part-time position, working up to 14 hours per week.
Job Specific Responsibilities: Develop tennis programming and provide on-court tennis instruction to the Harvard community including lessons, clinics, recreation classes, tournaments, playing leagues, etc. Work with Director of Recreational and Aquatics Operations to promote and schedule these programs to ensure appropriate usage of facilities. Provide coordination and oversight for recreational tennis programs and provide on court tennis instruction to Harvard community and some outside clientele. Develop lesson plans in accordance to the individual needs of the various clientele. Enforce facility policies when and where appropriate. Perform administrative duties including scheduling and confirming lessons, promoting tennis programs, etc.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. At least 3 years of experience teaching and organizing tennis programs. USTA or USPTA certification required.Additional Qualifications
Experience providing instruction in a University setting preferred. Microsoft office proficiency preferred. Basic proficiency in Excel and Word. Basic internet and email capabilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be enthusiastic and dedicated. Ability to relate with constituencies outside of the Department of Athletics (faculty, staff, alumnae, students, parents) as well department administration and other instructors and coaches. Must provide exceptional customer service. PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) certification preferred. Ability to teach on court for significant periods of time (up to 20 hours week if needed).Certificates and Licenses
USTA or USPTA certification required. CPR and First Aid requiredPhysical Requirements
Job occasionally requires strenuous physical activity Must be able to lift equipment associated with the sport.Working Conditions
