This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church. Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, and in compliance with Welfare Services' policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible to assist in general labor activities to meet the assigned production plan and is to assist in maintaining a safe and sanitary facility. The incumbent's duties include: assisting on packaging lines, operating minor packaging equipment, stacking products on pallets, assisting Lead Technicians in preparing packaging lines for daily production runs, cleaning the facility throughout, and in detail, assisting other Production Technicians in assignments.
The position presently includes an on-site arrangement, 5-hours a day, four days a week, 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm Tuesday-Friday in the Garden City Cannery. This position is temporary and will end at the end of harvest time (September to mid-December). This role will be part of our cleanup crew and will help give instructions to volunteers.
