Temporary HR Generalist

We're seeking a confident and experienced Temporary HR Generalist to join a well-established construction company in Wake County. This individual will step in to support the HR function during a 4-month leave and play a critical role in managing the employee life cycle for a large workforce in the paving and grading division.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced, field-based environment, is comfortable being direct, and has experience supporting managers in performance conversations and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a trusted HR partner to field managers and employees

Support the full employee life cycle, including onboarding, performance management, and offboarding

Provide coaching to managers during performance reviews and employee relations issues

Assist with training and development initiatives, including launching the company's annual training program

Manage and support performance improvement plans (PIPs)

Help ensure fair and consistent communication

Provide backup support to the recruiting function during slower hiring periods

Collaborate closely with the HR team including Recruiters, Onboarding Specialists, other Generalists, and HR Leadership

Utilize ADP for HRIS functions and employee record management

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HRBP role

Background in construction, light industrial, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred

Strong interpersonal and coaching skills

Working knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, and performance management

Experience with ADP is a plus
