Description of Job
1.) Facility maintenance of animal holdings and handling facilities, maintenance of existing structures and fences. Operation of Bobcat equipment, outdoor power tools and skilled knowledge in operating a variety of shop tools.
2.) The care of large mammals including feeding, maintaining feed stocks, and pen cleaning in accordance with facility protocols and federal animal welfare regulations.
3.) Grounds-keeping duties including: Snow removal, mowing, herbicide application, re-seeding native grasses, chainsaw and weed whipping.
4.) Other assigned duties to support the staff of the facility and laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
+ Position is not able to accommodate a class schedule during work hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
+ Must be 18 years of age or older
+ Must have a current & valid drivers' license or reliable transportation
+ The work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
+ Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week with occasional weekend and holiday hours.
+ Must be available to work short shifts on weekends and holidays.
+ Must be available to work varied shifts (Monday through Friday with occasional hours on weekends and holidays).
+ Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team.
+ Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather.
+ Must be able to lift 60 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.
