Temporary, Transportation Planner

What We Do – Accountabilities

Partner with Inbound Transportation and Order Management teams to determine if arriving orders are candidates for pre-routing to reduce the risk of order cancellations  Follow up with customers and carriers to encourage timely pick up of orders that are ready and eligible for routing Follow customers’ routing instructions to minimize chargebacks Maintain accurate records for customer paid orders and orders for which routing instructions need to be communicated to DC operations Identify and recommend routing efficiencies 

 

Essential Functions

Assigned specific outbound customers / accounts Support and build relationships with assigned accounts Use warehouse management system to identify orders that are available for shipment creation Schedule and communicate pick up appointments and follow up as necessary to ensure on-time pick-ups Monitor emails and customer routing portals for customer response to routing requests Utilize reporting tools to monitor shipment pickup status Update & communicate shipping schedule with Operations leadership, including orders that could be at-risk Generate and organize all related paperwork and required information for customer orders, and retain in appropriate files Maintain current and create new work instructions, accurately detailing shipping requirements for each account Effective usage of TMS (transportation management system) for shipment building / creation Maintains critical internal & external customer, carrier, and order management contacts Works to identify and partner with carriers, customers, and order management to resolve capacity and service issues Plan with DC operations daily to ensure continuous product flow

 

  

Preferred Qualifications & Education

Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree preferred Experience in a Distribution Center, Transportation Department or Customer Service field preferred Ability to partner with multiple cross-functional teams Ability to problem solve and innovative thinking abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy Proven organizational, prioritization and time management abilities Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing Capability to manage multiple tasks, simultaneously, without compromising quality Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, basic typing skills and experience with a Warehouse Management System/Transportation Management System (TMS) PKMS & AS400 knowledge preferred
