Technology Support Technician
The University of Maine System (UMS) IT Support Services department is seeking two Technology Support Technicians to join our team. These positions focus on providing responsive, high-quality desktop support for faculty and staff. As a Technology Support Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining end-user computing environments, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring reliable daily operations across campus. Key Responsibilities: + Install, configure, and support desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and related peripherals. + Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and connectivity issues through in-person and remote channels (phone, email, remote tools). + Maintain accurate records of technical support activities using ticketing and inventory systems. + Develop and deploy standard desktop software images. + Coordinate service delivery with other IT staff and assist with small projects related to desktop infrastructure. + Provide onboarding and technical setup for new employees or device replacement. + Deliver excellent customer service and follow up on open support issues. Qualifications + Associate's degree in a related field and three years of experience if a professional environment, or a combination of education and experience to equal five years. + Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, Windows and MacOS + Demonstrated ability in the configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of current operating systems, client productivity tools, peripherals, wired and wireless networks, and mobile devices via certifications, education, and/or experience. + Familiarity with common software applications and device troubleshooting techniques. + Ability to manage priorities and adapt to a fast-paced support environment. + Excellent communication and customer service skills. + Experience with support ticketing systems and technical documentation. + Must be able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally and perform tasks such as reaching, kneeling, and carrying equipment (with or without accommodations). Schedule and Location + The standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. + Some weekend or evening hours may be required, depending on semester or departmental needs. + The location is on the University of Maine Orono campus. Compensation and Benefits The starting wage is $25.19 per hour (non-negotiable), or the appropriate transfer rate for ACSUM/COLT unit members within the University of Maine System.
