Job Summary:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tests on furniture products to assess their durability, safety, and performance. This role will work closely with engineers and other team members to support product development and ensure compliance with industry standards and ISO 17025 accreditation requirements

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

Conduct routine and specialized tests on furniture products, including load testing, stability assessments, and material evaluations, according to established protocolsOperate and maintain testing equipment and tools, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working conditionDocument test results accurately and systematically, maintaining detailed records for quality assurance and compliance purposesWork closely with engineers and designers to provide feedback on product performance and suggest improvements based on test findingsAdhere to safety protocols and procedures in the lab to maintain a safe working environment for all team membersAssist in the development and refinement of testing methods and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracyHelp manage lab supplies and equipment, ensuring that resources are available and organizedAble to program PLC’s

SCOPE & IMPACT:

Supports the Test Lab in conducting and recording testing, communicating objective, repeatable empirical data to the lab customers and ensuring compliance to the ISO 17025 standard.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Associate's degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience, or equivalentFamiliarity testing standards (e.g., ANSI/BIFMA, UL, ASTM, ISO)Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectivelyBasic knowledge of mechanical principlesGood communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentProficiency in using standard lab equipment and software for data recording and analysisProficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Project)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

Able to program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).Familiarity with lab process controls (ISO 17025)Some familiarity with furniture construction, textiles, or small electronic products.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Often required to sit, repetitive hand motion (such as typing), hear, listen, talk, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, balance, reach overhead, crawl, pill, push and lift – up to 50 pounds. Seldom required to climb stairs, climb ladders or Lift up to 75 pounds. Not required to shovel.
