Job Description

This position is within the Building and Construction division in the Thermal Testing Department for Windows and Doors. The Technician, Building Products Testing is responsible for conducting tests on a variety of building products and components.

ResponsibilitiesSetting up test fixtures and installing test windows/doorsLifting materials and working off ladders at timesSampling materials using Sawzall to cut off corners of window and door samplesStarting tests from a computerSetting up, mounting, and performing standard tests on building products in accordance with proceduresChecking the calibration status of test equipment prior to testingAnalyzing test results and writing accurate and concise test reports that summarize procedures and resultsLearning and understanding test standards and test proceduresOperating various lift equipment upon completion of training programs and being able to work from heightsEssential SkillsExperience with hand and power toolsAbility to use a tape measure and read blueprintsComputer literacy, including installation and basic welding skillsGeneral construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power toolsPhysical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks such as sitting, standing, crouching, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling, pushing, and pullingAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in carpentry; welding and fabrication is a plusAbility to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructionsAbility to follow directions and work with minimal supervisionExcellent customer service skillsStrong communication skills – both written and oralGood computer skills using Word and ExcelAbility to travel as business needs dictateValid driver’s license and reliable driving recordWhy Work Here?

This is a contract-to-hire position offering great benefits, four weeks of PTO, and a 401k with a 2.5% match if the employee contributes 5%. The company provides opportunities for growth, with potential to advance into a lead role within the department or a consultant role with the engineering team. Continued education is available, and the company has a national presence.

Work Environment

The shift is from 7:00am/8:00am to 3:30pm/4:30pm with a flexible schedule. The work environment is a shop located in Fridley, MN. The Building & Construction team offers assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services, providing Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team supports the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on-site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
