**The Role:** Cognizant is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Technical Writer to support our documentation initiatives across SDK installations, developer guides, and user-facing content. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in technical writing, thrives in cross-functional environments, and can translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging documentation. You will collaborate with developers, product managers, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality content that enhances user experience and supports product adoption. **Location** : Richmond,Virginia **Work Authorization** • Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship (H-1B, L-1B, L-1A, etc.) **Must Have Qualifications:** **Must Have Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or related field + 3+ years of experience as a technical writer, editor, or content strategist + Proven experience in business or professional writing, including analysis, reports, or proposals + Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into accessible text, graphics, and process flows + Experience independently gathering information from SMEs to develop end-user, technical, system, and process documentation + Strong analytical skills with a focus on content reuse and single-sourcing opportunities + Demonstrated ability to deliver technically accurate content through collaboration with developers and stakeholders + Proficiency in tools such as Docusaurus, Confluence, or similar documentation platforms + Familiarity with version control systems like Git for managing documentation changes + Basic knowledge of React and Node.js + Experience writing user-focused documentation for diverse audiences + Excellent communication and proofreading skills + Understanding of the software development life cycle and documentation development life cycle + Strong command of writing principles, style guides, and process documentation + Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and thoroughly + Ability to manage multiple content projects and collaborate across teams + Experience writing UI text, online help, and developer guides + Ability to analyze and improve existing content + Experience creating and maintaining information architecture + Ability to provide quick turnaround on expedited requests such as bug documentation or product errors **Nice to Have Qualifications:** + Experience with Markdown-based documentation workflows + Familiarity with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, Postman) + Exposure to Agile development environments **Salary and Other Compensation:** The annual salary for this position is between **112,000 - 131,000 K** depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
