The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to leverage your proven skills and experience in full cycle technical writing and editing services to support Government funded contracted taskings.
The ideal candidate will be able to take roughly written content on an unfamiliar subject that is not correctly formatted or styled, has spelling errors, knowledge gaps, inconsistent terminology, etc., and:
Reorganize the content to flow logically in the correct sequence using consistent terminology.
Correct all errors in spelling, syntax, grammar, and voice.
Reformat to follow a consistent layout of headers, body text, bullets, and numbered lists.
Rewrite the text to be direct, use active voice, and follow an internal style guide. The text should be written at reading level of a high school student.
Identify knowledge gaps, logic errors, missing/conflicting steps, or incorrect assumptions, and flag them for the designated subject matter expert to review.
Create a basic graphic and text layout following the internal style guide and using the approved templates. This will require flexibility and professional judgement, e.g., no two workbooks are 100% alike and the style guide does not have an answer for every scenario.
Work site will fluctuate between the customer site, CACI office, and home site (with prior arrangements). Must be within commuting distance of one of these public Naval Shipyards: Norfolk Naval Shipyard Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility
Responsibilities:
Produce, proofread, edit, format, layout, and design a wide variety of customer work products, e.g., workbooks, manuals, training materials, technical reports, performance reports, presentations, white papers, slide decks, standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Gather information and requirements, interview and collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts, conduct research, then express technical information in written form that is accurately captured and comprehensible to the intended audience of readers.
Create graphic models to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.
Provide briefings or other reporting on work progress. Lead and facilitate work product development/revision cycle meetings to gather suggestions. Implement feedback and make necessary changes. Maintain all technical and non-technical files associated with the production and revision of work products.
Manage updates, version control, and revisions to the knowledge management repository (or internal documentation library).
Take ownership of assignments; ensure all products are produced with excellent quality, accuracy, efficiency, and on deadline.
May be assigned overflow Graphic Designer work responsibilities, as needed.
Support the execution of contract requirements, which may include submission of supporting data and metrics and timely completion of written reports to stakeholders, customers, and CACI leadership.

Qualifications:
Required:
Must be a United States Citizen. Must have the ability to obtain a DOD Interim Secret security clearance and subsequent final DOD Secret security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree. In lieu of the degree requirement, candidates with minimum 10 years of directly applicable work experience may be considered for this position.
Minimum 5 years of professional related work experience.
Strong attention to detail and expert-level writing, editing, formatting, and proofreading skills. This work requires a careful reading of raw text, editing that text to a specific standard and style guide, and then consistently and accurately formatting the document IAW the internal style guide with minimal supervision.
Experience in requirements gathering and interviewing with stakeholders.
Strong proficiency in the organization and presentation of information in a concise and coherent manner.
Ability to effectively collaborate with others to accurately and efficiently define project requirements.
Strong customer service orientation and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to respectfully engage internal and external customers at all levels in a manner that achieves successful outcomes.
Outstanding organizational skills to efficiently manage competing priorities, multiple concurrent taskings, and firm deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
Desired:
Any of the following certifications: Certified Scrum Master, Certified Agilist, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Technical Writer (CTW).
Experience using Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and iterative documentation processes.
Active DOD Secret security clearance.
Work experience with the Naval Maintenance Community, United States Navy, or the Department of Defense. Navy mechanic/electrician experience or a background in Shipyard maintenance will be especially helpful.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
