Job Summary
Provides technical support and customer assistance for the Transportation Engineering Division - Traffic Operations section. Work involves responding to questions, calls and e-mails from system users and providing technical assistance, problem resolution and customer service; developing and conducting user training; and installing, maintaining and troubleshooting personal computers, terminals, networks, and other hardware and peripheral equipment.
Candidate will work as a member of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operations team. The team is responsible for Collier County’s ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) infrastructure, providing technical support to the Transportation Engineering Division - Traffic Operations section. Work involves deploying and troubleshooting, fiber optics infrastructure, CCTV cameras, vehicle detection systems, preemption systems, vehicle traffic count systems, networking, traffic signal controllers, adaptive traffic control systems, travel-time measuring systems, connected vehicle technologies and other systems. Selected candidate will also provide problem resolution and customer service; developing and conducting user training; and knowledgeable in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting personal computers, terminals, networks, and other hardware and peripheral equipment. Training for all these systems will be provided.
Essential Functions
• Monitoring, installation and troubleshooting of Intelligent Transportation Systems throughout Collier County roadways. Provides technical support of the ITS environment. Receives and responds to calls and e-mails from the TMC, reporting problems and/or requesting assistance; provides technical advice; Provides problem resolution; and trains to become knowledgeable of ITS functioning.
• Develops and provides training to system users. Maintains procedural manuals, system documentation, to be used as references by system users. Provides users with information regarding ITS system requirements and procedures.
• Delivers, installs, sets up, configures, and maintains the ITS environment, networks, and other hardware. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs problems. Installs and configures upgrades.
• Maintains accurate records of Traffic Operations calls in the TMC, performs site visits; prioritizes and schedules work; updates status to reflect problem resolution/completion; and maintains records of the frequency, types, and resolutions of problems for future reference.
• Assists with the development and maintenance of Microsoft TEAMS. Makes changes to ITS systems and networking as assigned.
• Supports assigned software and network applications such as PC based applications or Division-specific programs.
• Research, test, and recommend new equipment and/or upgrades. Maintains records for ITS systems inventory; identifies the type and quantity of ITS hardware and related peripheral equipment, assignment/location, identification numbers, software applications, etc. for system inventory management and software license compliance.
• Operates a personal computer, telephones, copiers, and other general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software. Utilizes hand tools in the installation, maintenance, and repair of ITS systems equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• One (1) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting Required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
• Employees in this classification in the Information Technology (IT) department must possess the foundation certification in the current version of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or obtain such certification within two (2) years of entry into this classification. Incumbents in the IT department will be required to re-certify in new versions of ITIL within two (2) years of the date of acceptance of that version by the Division Director – Information Technology.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certificate preferable, but not required
• IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification preferable, but not required

+ Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
