Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will provide effective leadership of the Technical Services team to deliver best practice technical support and mine planning for the mine. 

Liaise with the operations teams to ensure targets are delivered in accordance with the forecastFacilitate solutions to technical and operational problemsLead other technical services functions, including Survey, and GeologyAct as the technical advisor on mine support and mine planning issues to the Technical Services Manager, providing strategic mine development advice on how to safely optimize the value of the mine resourcesOversee and coordinate the development and review of the mine schedule and provision of support services (Survey and Geology)Maintain the mine design and scheduling processes through short, and medium planning, to support efficient and productive operations, including production reporting and reconciliations.

QualificationsOpen Cut Coal mining experience is desirableBachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent.RPEQ Qualification desirableDemonstrated experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against targetsAstute business acumen and ability to multi-task and prioritize conflicting deadlines and prioritiesStrong interpersonal and negotiation skills as well as the ability to drive performanceProficiency with Deswik and SPRY is desirableWorking knowledge in dragline design is highly desirable
