Description of Job The Technical Services and Systems Librarian at Colorado State University Pueblo leads an experienced and cohesive team to ensure the library provides secure and reliable access to relevant collections. This includes collaborating with CSU Libraries staff and System IT staff to manage the library’s systems, ensuring interoperability and security. This role provides leadership and direction for the Technical Services department, managing a small but highly effective team to oversee acquisitions, cataloging, and electronic resources management (ERM). The librarian may contribute to shared professional responsibilities such as reference, instruction, and collection development. This position includes conducting research to apply innovative solutions within the library and actively participate in professional service and engagement. This multifaceted position requires a strong background in library technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to advancing academic services. Primary Duties Library Systems Management: Collaborate with System IT and CSU Libraries staff to: + Manage the Integrated Library System (ILS) and related technologies, including: + library services platform (ALMA) + discovery platform (PRIMO) + bibliographic utility (OCLC Connexion/Worldshare) + proxy server (EZ Proxy) + digital repository (CONTENTdm) + integrated Springshare suite + web content management (using Cascade server) + Ensure interoperability between systems + Maintain security and access control of library systems + Monitor emerging trends in library technologies and recommend improvements + Serve as point of contact to library systems and technology vendors + Troubleshoot technical issues and work with vendors for resolution Leadership and Management of Technical Services: Provide leadership, direction, and management of the Technical Services & Systems department including: + Supervise an experienced and knowledgeable technical services team including training, hiring and evaluating staff and student workers. + Oversee cataloging of library materials and catalog database maintenance. + Lead acquisitions efforts, including ordering electronic and physical materials for the library and maintaining library collections. + Oversee ERM tools and workflows. + Coordinate the review of licenses for electronic resources with Dean and Acquisitions staff. + Provide training and documentation support for Technical Services policies and procedures. Shared Librarian Duties + Contribute to shared duties such as reference, instruction, and collection development. Research and Practical Application: + Conduct sustained inquiry into advanced academic needs, leading to practical applications within the library and contributing to scholarly output. Service and Professional Engagement: + Actively serve on boards, committees, and panels within the Library, University, and Profession, with a focus on enhancing advanced academic services Salary Range $55,000 to $65,000 Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship Minimum Qualifications + Master’s degree in Library Science (M.L.S. or equivalent) from an ALA accredited institution. Degree must be completed by August 2025. + Demonstrated ability to relate to and commitment to serving varying populations and learners + Experience or coursework related to library technical services including one or more of the following: • Working knowledge of current cataloging practices • Experience with licensing and managing electronic resources • Experience in library acquisitions Preferred Qualifications + Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies. + Working knowledge of a programming/scripting language + Knowledge of managing an enterprise library system used for search, discovery, access and delivery services + Reference and instruction experience in an academic library + Experience at a regional comprehensive university + Experience at a Hispanic- Serving Institution (HSI) + Experience in a position requiring planning and leadership, with initiative taking, and goal setting to manage priorities Supplemental Information All interested candidates must apply through the online application system.
